Initially, Sundar C came on board, but he later exited the project. He was replaced by Cibi Chakravarthy, who is no longer directing the film.<\/p>\n<p>As per the latest chatter in Kollywood circles, there are two reasons behind this development. According to one version, Cibi was earlier supposed to work with Nani, but the project didn&#8217;t materialize for unknown reasons. The producer of that film reportedly spent a significant amount on pre-production and is now said to be seeking a partnership in Thalaivar 173. However, Raaj Kamal Films International is reportedly not in favor of the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Another version suggests that Rajinikanth asked for changes in the script, wanting it to be more intense like Dhurandhar, as the story revolves around a spy. However, Cibi is said to have designed the script in a lighter, more entertaining vein and was not keen on altering it.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reason may be, Cibi is no longer directing the biggie, and the latest reports suggest that Ashwath Marimuthu might helm the project.
