Kiran Abbavaram has steadily established himself as a notable young actor in Tollywood. After venturing into production with the recently released Thimmarajupalli TV, he is now set to take on a new challenge as a director.

The ‘Chennai Love Story’ actor is making his directorial debut, with preparations already underway for his maiden venture. Besides directing the film, Kiran has written the story and screenplay and will also play the lead role, making it one of the most ambitious projects of his career.

Titled Reality, the film will also mark the production debut of popular overseas distributor Sudhakar Chaganti under his banner, Joy Films. Mounted on a lavish scale, the project is expected to be the biggest budgeted film of Kiran Abbavaram’s career so far. Described as a youthful family entertainer with a distinctive storyline, the movie is set for a grand launch tomorrow.

Alia Bhatt’s Alpha has landed in the middle of an online controversy shortly after the release of its teaser. While the promo generated excitement for YRF Spy Universe’s first female-led film, a section of social media users questioned the originality of certain scenes.

Mega Powerstar Ram Charan’s latest hit Peddi is continuing its promising run at the box office. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the rural sports drama has received a positive response from audiences and critics alike, helping the film cross the Rs. 315 crore gross mark worldwide in just five days.

The film opened on a fair note at the box office earning around Rs. 7.5 crores nett as per trade reports. The makers have offered a 50% discount on the tickets for the opening day. Hence the movie needs to show good growth over the weekend to be in a safe position.

The sports action drama, set in rural Andhra Pradesh during the 1980s, showcases the journey of a lower-caste youngster and a hired coolie who takes up wrestling to bring recognition to his village. AR Rahman is the music composer.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for an extensive promotional campaign for her upcoming film Maa Inti Bangaaram. The actress, who is also producing the project, is expected to kick off promotions from June 8, with the film slated for a theatrical release on June 19.

“Our friend Guntur UV Vamsi called me a while ago and told me that the film is having an excellent hold for today’s morning shows, compared to that of last year’s biggie. We are confident that Peddi will post massive numbers over the weekend. The hold in Andhra is sensational. The movie is performing to our expectations. Please watch the film in theatres and don’t encourage piracy. Peddi is an inspirational film. Please take the kids to theatres,” said Mythri Ravi Shankar.
