Mega Powerstar Ram Charan’s latest hit Peddi is continuing its promising run at the box office. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the rural sports drama has received a positive response from audiences and critics alike, helping the film cross the Rs. 315 crore gross mark worldwide in just five days.

As the film enjoys a dream run in theatres, Icon Star Allu Arjun has become the latest celebrity to praise the project. Taking to X, he congratulated the entire team and hailed Ram Charan’s act as a “mind-blowing performance.” Calling it a “gritty, raw performance” with an “extraordinary body transformation and graceful dance moves,” Allu Arjun said he was “genuinely very proud” of his brother. His appreciation has further boosted the positive buzz surrounding Peddi.

The massive hype surrounding Ranveer Singh’s spy action thriller Dhurandhar: The Revenge OTT release has taken an interesting turn. While the Aditya Dhar directorial shattered theatrical box office records, its transition to streaming platforms has sparked a unique dilemma for Indian audiences. Currently, viewers outside India are already streaming the film on Netflix, which has released a highly talked-about uncut version featuring extreme action sequences that were heavily trimmed by censors for the theatrical run.

For audiences back home, the official digital release is arriving much later, creating a significant delay window. JioHotstar has locked in the streaming rights for India and is scheduled to premiere the film digitally on June 4, 2026. Rumours also suggest that Netflix might bring the film to Indian audiences a few weeks later, on June 19, 2026, but it will likely feature only the standard censored version approved for the domestic market.

This gap between the international release of the unfiltered cut and the official domestic launch has driven many eager fans toward piracy. Since the graphic and raw footage is already accessible online through illegal channels, both streaming giants are facing a tricky situation when it comes to retaining viewership. It remains to be seen how JioHotstar and Netflix will adapt their strategies to counter this piracy wave and keep domestic audiences engaged.

Maaveeran starring Sivakarthikeyan performed moderately at the box office, but ever since its OTT debut, the film has gained wider acceptance and popularity among audiences. Directed by Madonne Ashwin, Maaveeran was produced by Arun Viswa under the banner of Shanthi Talkies.

Now, the producer has officially confirmed that a sequel to Maaveeran is in development. Responding to a netizen’s comment on Instagram praising the film and expressing doubts about a sequel, Arun Viswa replied, “Who told you?”

Reports suggest that Madonne Ashwin has been working on the second installment, utilizing the time as his film with Vikram is getting delayed. The project is currently in the scripting stage, and more details are expected to be revealed soon.

Riteish Deshmukh’s historical action drama Raja Shivaji took a bumper start at the box office. The film emerged as the all-time biggest Marathi opener, earning over Rs. 11 crores nett in India. Marathi version is leading with Rs. 8 crores nett, while Hindi version saw collections in the range of Rs. 3.3 crores nett.

The next biggest Marathi opener is Sairat with around Rs. 3.6 crores nett. The romantic drama still holds the record for all-time highest grosser of the industry with over Rs. 100 crores. Raja Shivaji now aims to dethrone Sairat to emerge as the new industry hit.

In its target market, Raja Shivaji is breathing fire, and the May Day holiday advantage also worked in the film’s favor. The film is expected to post solid numbers over the weekend, too.

Raja Shivaji also features Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amole Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh in pivotal roles.

Vijay Deverakonda is reportedly set to team up with Kriti Sanon for a big-budget pan-India entertainer. As per ongoing industry gossip, Kriti has been approached to play the female lead in Vijay’s upcoming project directed by Shouryuv of Hi Nanna fame.

The project is said to be mounted on a grand scale with several international technicians working on the film. Reports also suggest that the makers are planning a visually rich cinematic experience aimed at both Telugu and Hindi audiences.

Though there is no official confirmation yet from the actors or the production house, the rumored pairing has already generated excitement among fans on social media. Let’s see what happens.

Tharun Bhascker’s new film Gaayapadda Simham is now out in theatres. The film marks the directorial debut of Kasyap Sreenivas who made the popular YouTube web series ‘The Breakup Consultant.’ Gaayapadda Simham hints at a second installment with the story not yet fully concluded.

The sequel is titled ‘Porata Simham’, inspired by the popular song from the blockbuster Vikram. Even Gaayapadda Simham drew inspiration from KGF’s famous dialogue, meaning a wounded lion. We need to see when the sequel will go on floors.

A well-designed trailer at this point can make audiences move past the delays. Also, it takes time for the promotional asset to reach audiences across the country. PAN-India biggies and Hindi films usually release their trailers well in advance, and Peddi should follow the same route with just a month left for release.

Peddi has the potential to open well, but for the box office numbers to create pandemonium and set new records, immediate trailer launch followed by aggressive marketing will do the job.
