Telugu audiences have always encouraged well-made true-blue horror films and also horror comedies. In recent times, movies like Masooda, Virupaksha, Kishkindhapuri, Shambala, and Korean Kanakaraju have emerged as clean box-office hits. This Independence Day weekend, the new horror film Agadha, directed by MS Raju, is testing its luck.

The director took an interesting step to draw crowds to the theatres. MS Raju is hellbent on not releasing Agadha on OTT for at least 60 days after its theatrical release. Telugu movies mostly arrive on OTT four weeks after their theatrical launch. There has been an ever-growing debate about the shorter theatrical window, and in this regard, MS Raju’s stance is definitely appreciable.

MS Raju further added that the OTT deal is still on hold, presumably since he is demanding a longer window. Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Ulka Gupta, and Shravan played the lead roles.

Star actress Samantha achieved a rare milestone with her latest release Maa Inti Bangaaram. The film has emerged as the first woman-centric movie in Tollywood to cross the Rs. 100 crore gross mark.

After making its OTT debut on JioHotstar in the South Indian languages, the film is now gearing up for its Hindi premiere. Maa Inti Bangaaram will stream on Sony LIV in Hindi, with the streaming date set to be announced later.

Directed by Nandini Reddy, the film has Raj Nidimoru as the creator, while Samantha also serves as its producer. Gulshan Devaiah, Manjusha, Sreemukhi, Gautami, Anand, Lakshmi and others appear in key roles.

The second week of August brings a mix of films and shows across major OTT platforms. From new Telugu releases to big Hindi and Malayalam titles, here are the notable releases to watch this week.

Sahakutumbaanaam:

Telugu family entertainer Sahakutumbaanaam has already started streaming on Amazon Prime Video, giving audiences a lighthearted option for the week. Directed by Uday Sharma, the film stars Raam Kiran, Megha Akash, Rajendra Prasad, Brahmanandam and Satya in key roles.

The Traitors India Season 2:

The Traitors India Season 2 premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Aug 13, 2026, with Karan Johar returning as host. 21 celebrities enter the game of deception, where alliances, betrayals and mind games decide who survives.

Kattalan:

Malayalam action thriller Kattalan arrives on ManoramaMAX and Simply South (overseas) on Aug 13, 2026. Directed by Paul George, the film features Antony Varghese Pepe, Sunil, Kabir Duhan Singh, Jagadish and Dushara Vijayan. The story follows a skilled fighter who goes undercover to take down a powerful criminal network.

Cocktail 2:

Shahid Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon starrer Cocktail 2 is set to arrive on Netflix on Aug 14, 2026. Directed by Homi Adajania, the romantic comedy follows a new set of characters caught in a complicated relationship.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata:

Kangana Ranaut starrer Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is heading to ZEE5 after its theatrical run. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film draws from the bravery of medical professionals during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The film will stream from August 14, 2026.

Aakhri Sawaal:

Political thriller Aakhri Sawaal is all set to make its digital debut on Lionsgate Play on Aug 14, 2026. Namashi Chakraborty leads the film, with Sanjay Dutt, Amit Sadh, Sameera Reddy and Tridha Choudhury in key roles.

Nijame Rujuvainadhi:

Telugu mini-film Nijame Rujuvainadhi is set to stream on ETV Win on Aug 14, 2026. Kalyan Padala and Viyana headline the romantic drama directed by K. Prakash Reddy.

Mr. Work From Home:

Mr. Work From Home is set to bring a Telugu romantic comedy-drama to SunNXT on Aug 14, 2026. Written and directed by Madhudeep Chelikaani, the film stars Thrigun and Payal Radhakrishna, with Anish Kuruvilla, Sivaji Raja, Harsha Vardhan, Satya Krishnan and Harsha Chemudu in supporting roles.

Aroopi:

Malayalam supernatural thriller Aroopi is ready to arrive on Lionsgate Play on Aug 14, 2026. Directed by Abhilash Warrier, the film stars Vysakh Ravi, Neha Chawla and Joy Mathew. The story revolves around an ancient Yakshini curse that is unleashed after a spirit is accidentally freed.

Heartin:

Tamil romantic drama Heartin is reported to make its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video on Aug 14, 2026. Directed by Kishore Kumar, the film stars Sananth, Madonna Sebastian and Emaya T in the lead roles.

108 Base Hospital – Uri:

Military-medical series 108 Base Hospital – Uri premieres on Aug 15, 2026, with episodes airing on Colors TV and streaming on JioHotstar. Starring Erica Fernandes, Gashmeer Mahajani and Nikhil Khurana, the series follows army medical professionals working under extreme conditions in Uri.

To celebrate the Independence Day, ZEE5 is set to bring the exclusive digital premiere of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata on 14th August. The movie is produced by PEN Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Paramhans Creations in association with Eunoia Films LLP and Floating Rocks Entertainment Pvt Ltd.

Set against the backdrop of the devastating 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata revisits one of the darkest chapters in India’s history to spotlight a group of unsung heroes whose courage and selflessness saved countless lives. Set within Mumbai’s Cama and Albless Hospital, the film follows the extraordinary actions of nurses, ward boys, cleaners, security personnel, and other hospital staff who became the first line of defence for the patients in their care.

Lokesh Kanagaraj made his debut as a lead actor with the crime action drama DC. Bollywood actress Wamiqa Gabbi played the female lead. Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the movie hit the big screens on Friday.

The latest update reveals that Sun NXT has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights to this mass action drama. The same was officially displayed during the films opening credits.

DC opened to highly positive critical acclaim, with critics calling it one of Kollywood’s best outings of the year. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features music by Anirudh Ravichander.

One of today’s Telugu releases, KJQ (King Jackie Queen), has hit theatres. Directed by the late Kiran Kumar, the crime drama stars Dheekshith Shetty, Shashi Odela, and Yukti Thareja in the lead roles.

Along with the theatrical release, the makers have officially unveiled the film’s OTT partner. Amazon Prime Video has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights, with the digital premiere date to be announced later.

Produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under the SLV Cinemas banner, KJQ also marks the acting debut of Shashi Odela, brother of The Paradise director Srikanth Odela. The film has music composed by Poornachandra Tejaswi.

Aishwarya Rajesh and Thiruveer starrer Oh Sukumari has finally made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video after completing its theatrical run. Although the makers initially planned it as a pan-Indian theatrical release, the film eventually released only in Telugu.

After failing to leave a mark at the box office, Oh Sukumari is now streaming on OTT in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The digital release gives the romantic comedy drama a second chance to reach a wider audience beyond its theatrical run.

The story follows a young man’s romance with Sukumari, which takes an unexpected turn after a hidden truth from her family’s past comes to light. It remains to be seen whether the film finds better acceptance among home audiences through its digital premiere.

Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga emerged as one of the most appreciated Hindi films of the year. The period romantic drama won praise for its emotional storytelling and performances, gradually building strong word of mouth during its theatrical run.

After its successful run in cinemas, Main Vaapas Aaunga has now made its digital debut on Netflix. The film is currently streaming in Hindi, giving those who missed it in theatres an opportunity to watch it from home.

Having earned widespread appreciation on the big screen, all eyes are now on the film’s OTT journey. It remains to be seen whether Main Vaapas Aaunga receives a similar response from streaming audiences and expands its reach through Netflix.

Atharvaa’s Idhayam Murali has finally made its digital debut on Netflix after completing its theatrical run. The coming-of-age romantic drama was also released in Telugu as Hrudayam Murali, where it received a decent response from audiences.

The film is now streaming on Netflix in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, making it accessible to a wider audience after its theatrical run. Having received a positive response in cinemas, Idhayam Murali will now look to continue the same momentum on OTT. It remains to be seen how the romantic drama performs among home audiences in the coming days.

Directed by Aakash Baskaran, the film stars Atharvaa, Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Natarajan Subramaniam, Ramki, Niharika NM, Rakshan, and others in key roles, while Fahadh Faasil and Malavika Mohanan make special cameo appearances. Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin, directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, has finally made its digital debut on ZEE5 after a successful theatrical run. The action drama emerged as the biggest hit of the actor’s career and marked a major breakthrough at the box office.

However, the OTT premiere has come with an unexpected twist. Although ZEE5 had officially announced that the film would stream in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, only the Telugu version is currently available on the platform. As of now, there is no official update on when the remaining dubbed versions will be added.

The unexpected change has left many viewers disappointed, especially those who were waiting to watch the film in their preferred language after the platform’s multilingual announcement. It now remains to be seen whether ZEE5 will introduce the other language versions in the coming days.
