Dhurandhar 2 Creates History: Ranveer Singh’s Film Becomes the Highest Indian Grosser in Australia and New Zealand
Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s latest collaboration, Dhurandhar The Revenge, continues to dominate the global box office by smashing long-standing records. The film recently made headlines by becoming the all-time highest-grossing Indian movie in the UK, surpassing the record previously held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. This momentum has now shifted toward the Oceania region, where the film has reached unprecedented heights.
In Australia, the spy action thriller collected an impressive $8.255 million, officially becoming the highest-grossing Indian film in the country’s history. It achieved a similar feat in New Zealand by earning NZ $1.295 million, effectively overtaking Pathaan in that market as well. These milestones represent a significant achievement for the production, adding to the film’s already illustrious legacy.
The film features a powerhouse ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, and Danish Pandor. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the project has solidified its status as one of the most successful cinematic events of the year. Furthermore, the high-energy soundtrack composed by Shashwat Sachdev has played a vital role in the film’s massive commercial appeal.
Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and directed by SS Rajamouli, is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious Indian films in production. Scheduled for a worldwide release on April 7, 2027, the film also features Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra in key roles. Adding to its scale, the film is being planned for an IMAX experience, highlighting its focus on large-format storytelling.
In a major development, producer SS Karthikeya has confirmed that Varanasi will be presented at CCXP Mexico on April 24, 2026. He will attend the event in person, while Rajamouli will address audiences through a specially recorded video message.
The panel will offer exclusive, never-before-seen content, including early glimpses and behind-the-scenes footage. Karthikeya is also expected to share insights into the film’s vision and production during an interactive session with fans.
On the production front, the team has recently wrapped a major schedule in Hyderabad and is currently on a short break before resuming the next phase of shooting.
The film is produced by KL Narayana under Sri Durga Arts, in association with SS Karthikeya’s Showing Business. With a reported budget of around Rs. 1200 crore and music by Oscar winner MM Keeravani, Varanasi is being mounted on a massive canvas. Its presence at CCXP Mexico marks a notable step as the film reaches out to international audiences early in its production journey.
