IMDb’s most popular Indian stars of 2025: Debutants top the list, no Telugu heroes in top 10

IMDb on Wednesday announced its list of the most popular Indian stars of 2025, and the list is sure to surprise you as two debutant actors claimed the top 1st and 2nd positions. Bollywood romantic drama Saiyaara, headlined by Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, was an earth-shattering blockbuster.

The lead actors, who also made their debut with this Mohit Suri’s directorial, earned overnight stardom and were now announced as the top two IMDb’s most popular stars of 2025. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda thanked Mohit Suri and YRF for changing their fortunes. The ranking is based on page views from more than 250 million monthly visitors worldwide throughout 2025.

The other actors in the top 10 are as follows: Aamir Khan (No. 3), Ishaan Khatter (No. 4), Lakshya (No. 5), Rashmika Mandanna (No. 6), Kalyani Priyadarshan (No. 7), Triptii Dimri (No. 8), Rukmini Vasanth (No. 9), and Rishab Shetty (No. 10). Interestingly no Telugu hero made it to the top 10 list this year, which is surely surprising.

2025 awaits its first Rs. 1000 crore grosser – Can this prequel deliver?

2025 saw massive blockbusters like Chhaava and Saiyaara. Both these Hindi films grossed over Rs. 500 crores. The animated film Mahavatar Narsimha is nearing the Rs. 300 crore mark. Sitaare Zameen Par, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, and Empuraan also emerged as massive hits, each crossing Rs. 250 crores gross. However, the Rs. 1000 crore benchmark is yet to be breached this calendar year.

Coolie and War 2 had the opportunity to achieve the four-digit milestone, but both biggies fell short of expectations and are heading toward loss ventures. Since Prabhas’ The Raja Saab is targeting Sankranthi 2026, only one film stands a chance of earning Rs. 1000 crores this year. The movie in question is Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, the prequel to the blockbuster Kantara.

The mythological action drama, also starring Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah, is slated for a grand release on October 2. Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated OG is also releasing this year, but Kantara: Chapter 1 has the edge due to its massive demand across all major languages. For those unaware, Kantara collected over Rs. 80 crores nett in Hindi.

Well-made sequels have always lit up the Hindi box office, as we’ve seen with Pushpa 2: The Rule, Stree 2, and KGF 2. Technically, Kantara: Chapter 1 may be a prequel, but it has all the qualities to emerge as an Rs. 1000 crore grosser. Can Rishab Shetty’s directorial live up to expectations, or will 2025 end without a Rs. 1000 crore film? Let’s wait and see.

Saiyaara director Mohit Suri says he is a fan of Sandeep Vanga

Mohit Suri, the director of the super hit film Saiyaara, recently expressed his admiration for Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga.

Speaking to the media post the release of his romantic drama, Suri revealed that he is a big fan of Vanga’s work and was blown away by Animal.

Suri reveals that he even messaged Vanga personally after watching the film, praising him for his vision. According to Suri, only a grounded and secure director could attempt and execute a film like Animal.

Suri added that Vanga’s bold storytelling and fearless filmmaking style have inspired him deeply. Saiyaara has taken a record opening at the box office and marks the debut of Ahan Pandey in Hindi films.

419K Tickets in 24 Hours! Saiyaara beats Housefull 5, Sikandar, and Sitaare Zameen Par

Bollywood’s latest romantic drama, Saiyaara, is off to a roaring start at the box office. Despite receiving mixed reactions from critics and audiences, the film’s numbers are soaring, largely fueled by its smart and aggressive pre-release promotions.
